No ride for me. Boo! Just too damn busy with work. My body could use a day off the bike. I try to not to go more than 10 straight days of being on the bike. Since I won’t be hitting my planned amount of hours this week I’ll probably focus on conserving energy for the weekend.
I’m starting to feel the fade of having been off the bike from illness, going straight into a solid few days of hard efforts. January’s a great time to pack in all the base miles one needs for a successful race season. Doing the lunch ride almost every day is good for intensity, but what I need more than anything is more solid time in the saddle. On the weekends I’m out on my mountain bike, but even then I’m working pretty hard as the trails I’ve been riding have a considerable amount of climbing. Once the sun is out earlier and later in the day I’ll pick up my weekly ride to work.
I wish I could say it in the best of spirits, but I’ve come down with the flu. I’ll be catching up on my shows and movies in hopes that I kick this sickness out of my system.
Damnit! I must have caught something on our flight home. Luckily I think it’s just a cold I’m dealing with, but I was looking forward to riding today. I’ve got New Year’s Day off, so I’m hoping I’m better by then. In the meantime I’ll be hydrating like a mofo.
Detroit, it’s been real, but I’m ready to go home now.
Coming up on my last day in Michigan for the winter break. I’ve had way too much food and not enough exercise. It’s been strange coming from a fast paced life of driving and riding every day to sitting and endlessly eating for a week. My legs are feeling like lead, and I’m hoping I don’t lose too much fitness. Looking forward to cramming in some miles before the new year.
So I’m approaching the longest time I’ve ever been off a bike in the past couple of years. I should have planned better by organizing some sort of riding option. There are bikes for me to ride, but my motivation to ride in the cold is next to nothing, plus I didn’t bring any year suited for this type of weather. Also, there’s really nowhere to ride that’s worth the effort. It’s all flat. I guess I’ve gotten spoiled by all the rolling hills and mountains of California.
